    II Packaging Technology of Electronic Labels




    From the perspective of application cases, the packaging forms of electronic labels are already diverse, not only are they not limited by standard shapes and sizes, but also their composition varies greatly, requiring special designs based on various requirements. The objects identified by electronic labels are people, animals, and objects, and their composition will of course vary greatly. The size of the currently used Transponder ranges from ¢ 6mm to 76 × 45mm, even small ones made of dust grade chips, only 0.4 including antennas × A size of 0.4 mm; The storage capacity ranges from a small capacity type with a read-only ID number of 64-200 bits to a large capacity type that can store tens of thousands of bits of data (such as EEPROM32Kbit); Packaging materials range from self-adhesive to plastic for open mold injection molding. In short, when designing electronic labels based on practical requirements, it is necessary to exert imagination and creativity, and flexibly adopt practical solutions. We have been exposed to many application topics proposed by users and have proposed and implemented many practical solutions as needed.


    1. Heteromorphic class


    Metal surface setting type


    Most electronic tags are affected to varying degrees by (even nearby) metals and cannot function properly. This type of label is specially processed and can be set on metal and can be read and written. Used for the surface of various metal parts such as pressure vessels, boilers, fire equipment, etc. The so-called special treatment refers to the need to increase the installation gap, set shielding metal effects of materials, etc. Product packaging can be injection molded or drip molded.


    Wrist strap type


    Can be disposable (such as medical) or reused (amusement parks, beach baths).


    The packaging forms for animal and plant use can be injection glass tubes, hanging ear tags, buckle type foot loops, embedded identification pins, etc


    2. Card type (PVC, paper, others)


    Lamination


    There are two types of fusion pressure and sealing pressure. Melt pressing is made by heating and pressing the INLAY sheet in the center layer and the upper and lower PVC sheets. After fusion of PVC material and INLAY, it is punched and cut to the size specified in ISO 7816. When the chip adopts a Transponder, the chip protrudes above the antenna plane (antenna thickness 0.01~0.03 mm), and another lamination method, namely sealing, can be used. At this time, the base material is usually PET or paper, and the chip thickness is typically 0.20 to 0.38mm. During card printing and packaging, only PVC is sealed around the antenna, not fused, and the chip part is not compressed, which can prevent the chip from being crushed. In addition, attention should be paid to the waste products caused by the deviation of the finished product frequency.


    Gluing


    Use paper or other materials to glue the upper and lower materials of Transponder together through cold glue, and then mold and cut them into various sizes of cards or hanging tags.


    3. Label class


    Paste


    The finished product can be made into a label form that can be removed manually or by a labeling machine, and is the most widely used mainstream product. That is, an electronic label is attached to the back of the trademark and directly affixed to the marked object. If it is necessary to print barcodes and other operations during label issuance, the printing position must be accurately positioned with the Transponder on the back. Such as aviation luggage tags, tray tags, etc.


    Hanging tags


    Corresponding to clothing and articles, hanging tag products are used, characterized by compact size, which can be printed or recycled.


    From both the packaging form and packaging process of electronic tags, it can be seen that what packaging form should be used for RFID tags is often a topic that we strive to explore.
